The Gardens of the Valley are finally turning into colourful palettes with Almond and Cherry Blossoms and thousands of tourists are thronging the Kashmir Valley only to witness these beautiful visuals. These are the first flowers to bloom in a season and the Badamwari garden located at the foothills of Kohi-Maraan mountain on 300 Kanals of land has more than 1000 almond trees. It’s not only local tourists but people across the globe who are landing in Kashmir to witness this beautiful visual of the valley. The tourists already in the valley are enjoying the view of the bloom. Still some people are not aware of this blossoms time.
     The blossom-laden trees are the best part of spring in the Valley.  With light purple, white and crimson mixed with magical precision, the flower-laden almond trees are simply mesmerising.

“For someone seeing them for the first time, the spectacle is breathtaking,” a visitor said who came for the first time in Kashmir. While everybody is enjoying the fragrance of the spring blooms, the wise and the circumspect are worried about the future generations. 

     Cherry is considered a vital crop for the farmers in the Valley as it provides additional income to them in May-June since all other fruits in Kashmir are harvested in autumn. 

Eight cherry varieties grown in Kashmir include makhmali, siya, mishri, jaddi, Italy, dabal, vishkan and stela. Four among eight varieties, mainly mishri, jaddi, makhmali and dabal, have good demand in the market. Mishri is considered sweeter than all other varieties.
