Turtuk, a must visit place...

Turtuk is small and less known hamlet near Nubra valley Ladakh.  Baltistan on oneside and Nubra valley on other side. Situated near Shyok river shore Turtuk is settlement of nearly 4000 people. It's last village before Pakistan occupied Kashmir. It's green village in desert due to Shyok river. The barren mountains, greenery and the river make the village picturesque.
One can have views of the peak  K2, the second highest peak in the world after Mt. Everest. But you need to climb for three hours  which will make heart to pump faster. If you visit in spring you'll see apricot trees in full bloom. The views will tempt you to capture in your cameras. If you're visiting in July-August you can test fresh apricots. If you're visiting by September- October, you will witness amazing views of nature. So it's worth to visit Turtuk. The language spoken is Balti, it's blending of Tibetan and Urdu or Persian. The people are helpful and caring. Once upon a time as the village was part of Pakistan so most many people have their relatives on the other side of border. You can have views of Pakistan from the border.
The people are living in harmony with nature. The have formed intricate canals of glacial melt water. The canals not only bring water to each home but act as refrigerator for preserving their perishable foods. The increasing volume of visitors is leaving plastic waste which is problem for locals as the pollution and uncertain consequences in climate changes and put the community in trouble.
Apricots, buckwheat and walnut farming are income sources of the people. The Ladakhi Apricots are best in country. They are sweeter too.  Now tell me how many of you are ready to visit Turtuk and have fresh apricots?
