Stargazing in Ladakh

   The Major reason why Ladakh is a favourite among astrophotographers is because it provides clear night skies to complement the scenic beauty. Cities don’t generally have such pellucid skies owing to the pollution around. 
  On the shores of Pangong Lake in Ladakh, is a special place for stargazing. There are no clouds here, no light or air pollution. Only a sky full of thousands of stars, twinkling in the silence of the night.
         Ladakh is that slice of heaven we all need to visit at least once in our lifestyle. Being the highest-altitude region in the country, tourists automatically feel closer to the stars. The pollution-free environment makes Ladakh one of the best places for star-gazing. To exploit its pollution-free environment and geographical location, the administration of Ladakh has decided to introduce ‘astro tourism’ in a big way.
         Astro tourism dates back several centuries when humankind would look up in the sky and imagined figures that gave them meanings. The astro travel will encourage tourists to experience the night sky in a completely different way. The astro tourism will promote tourism in Ladakh and provide ample opportunity to the locals to earn their livelihood. Besides, tourists will get the chance to visit new places and explore the unknown world of space.
        The tourism department will identify various locations where they can install telescopes for tourists. Like southern India, Ladakh has the potential to become a popular destination for viewing the space. Away from the city’s hustle-bustle, Ladakh is one of the few places in India where one can enjoy uninterrupted views of the skies. The hilly areas away from the city have darker skies that are conducive for stargazing.

पेंग्विन बद्दल काही मनोरंजक तथ्ये
