Visual delight - Apricot blossom festival

           The first-ever festival marked to put spotlight on cultivation of apricot in Ladakh  by the UT administration after 2019 historic reorganisation has turned the town into a tourist spot, with thousands of vacationers, bagpackers and honeymooners rushing to the cold desert for stay and travel. 

   Apricot processing in Ladakh is one of the primary agricultural and commercial trade activities with jam, juice, oil and dried-fruit allowing farmers to showcase these varieties to exporters and retailers from rest of India.It's a beautiful feeling to experience to the Dard Aryan tribe culture and see the apricot blosssom in full bloom. It helps us connect with flora and fauna of a region known otherwise for just expeditions . Ladakh Apricot Blossom festival which will be nothing less than a stunning visual delight for the travelers exploring the place. Similar to Japan's cherry blossom festival, Ladakh is planning to build the UT as an international tourist destination to attract tourists from across the globe.   Apricot, populary called as "chulli" in Ladakhi was introduced to the arid region of Ladakh over a century ago by Chinese traders passing through the area via the Silk Route. Now, in the 21st century, the fruit has become an integral part of Ladakh's culture, heritage and economy. The valleys of Ladakh are lush with apricot trees.

       If Japan can have their Cherry blossom festival why not us have such a festival that  delights every single person who witnesses it . Enjoying the blossom is feast to eyes. Clearly, the UT administration has left no stone unturned to give competition to Jammu and Kashmir, known as a paradise for tourists, by introducing a variety of interesting attractions for the tourists coming from across the places. From presenting local handicrafts exhibition, displaying cum selling of apricots products to organising cultural programme, the list is super thrilling and exciting.

The Ladakh Apricot Blossom festival will begin from April 6 and will go on till April 18. So, plan your trip in advance to experience the mesmerizing beauty of the place.

       According to reports, these programmes will be held in multiple villages of UT Ladakh including Garkone, Darchik, Sanjak, Hardas, Turtuk, and Tyakshi among others.
