Gurudongmar lake & Tsmogo lake of North Sikkim.

This lake is  believed to be  sacred lake  both by  Hindus as well as  Buddhists.Encircled all around by snow-covered mountains the lake freezes during the winter, except at one spot said to be blessed by Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava. The water of the lake is believed to have the miraculous power of granting children to issueless couples. It is at 17800 feet high  from  sea level.
There are quite a few interesting legends tagged with the Gurudongmar Lake. One of these legends say that Guru Padmasambhava is the reason why the lake remains unfrozen for some parts of the year.
On his visit to the lake, he saw the frozen lake and believed it to be worthy of respect, since it looked so much like a divine place. But since the lake remained frozen almost throughout the year, the locals pleaded the Guru to help them. Abiding by their pleas, Guru Padmasambhava placed his hand on a corner of the lake which defroze the lake, thus, helping the locals.
Zero Point stands at an altitude of 15,300 ft above mean sea level. It happens to be the last outpost of civilisation and the place where three rivers meet amid a panoramic view of snow-clad mountains and picturesque surroundings. Since it is located very close to the International border between India and China, visitors need permission to come here. It takes tourists about 1.5 hours to reach here from Yumthang Valley, which is 25 km away, and about 3 to 3.5 hours from Lachung. After reaching here, there are no civilian roads beyond and that is why it is called Zero Point. Though the roads can be treacherous, driving here is worth the reward of beautiful and pristine mountain sights. If you're lucky, you can also spot a yak in the snow.
Tsmogo lake is  also known as  Changu Lake. The lake surface reflects different colours with change of seasons and is held in great reverence by the local Sikkimese people. Buddhist monks prognosticated after studying the changing colours of the lake. After the winter season ends in middle of May, the periphery of lake has scenic blooms of flower species of rhododendrons (the state tree of Sikkim), primulas, blue and yellow poppies, irises and so forth. Also seen in the precincts of the lake are several species of birds including Brahminy ducks. Wildlife seen includes the red panda. As the lake is situated at  restricted  area  we need  permission to  enter the  area.
The Yumthang Valley or Sikkim Valley of Flowers sanctuary, is a nature sanctuary with river, hot springs, yaks and grazing pasture on rolling meadows surrounded by the Himalayan mountain in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim state in India. It is at an elevation of 3,564 metres (11,693 ft) above msl at a distance of 150 kilometres (93 mi) from the state capital Gangtok.
