Dubai shopping festival knocking doors who wants to open first?
Refunds are not applicable on anything that has been consumed – fully or partly – in the UAE, as well as goods that are not accompanied by the tourist when leaving the country.
How can we claim refunds on VAT?
- While at the store, request a Tax Free purchase, valid on a minimum expenditure of AED250.
- Present your passport to be scanned for use on the payment system.
- Allow the shop assistant to attach a Tax Free tag to the back of the sales receipt.
- A digital Tax Free form is created, ensure you validate it upon departure.
- Tax Free tags need to be validated within 90 days of the purchase date.
- How are goods validated?
- Tourists need to take the goods and tagged receipt to the Tax Free validation points located at all the three terminals at the Dubai Airport. Remember to do this before checking in for your flight and going through security.
- Keep in mind that you may need further validation checks and be requested to produce the goods for inspection, so plan ahead.
- Once validated, choose your preferred refund method.
- Tax Free validation points are also available at the Port Rashid seaport for cruise passengers, and the Oman – Hatta land border crossing.
- Saving tax in secure ways
If you are short on time, head to one of the Planet Payment self-service kiosks at Dubai International (DXB), or Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central (DWC). Submit the tax invoices, along with your passport and credit card, and the kiosk will process refunds automatically. There are no limits for requested amounts to be transferred to a tourist's credit card, but cash refunds are restricted to AED10,000 per day.
Planet's self-service kiosks are also available at The Dubai Mall, with more locations expected to pop up across the city.
So get ready for shopping. We will take care of your visa assistance and tour.
